The Rivers State Police Command have recorded success in the trail of some rapist who invaded one of the state higher institutions and raped some students few months ago, killing one Felicia Iyire in the process for her failure to submit to them.

The arrested rapist Preye Stanley were said to have being subjected to medical test and he came out positive for HIV/AIDS, as the results brought to an end the suspicion that the girls raped got infected in the process.

Report had it that the three girls who were raped some months ago in their hostel by suspected cult boys were taken to an undisclosed hospital in Port Harcourt to check the extend of damage to their body system in April 2005. They were confirmed to have been forcefully violated, raped and also allegedly infected with HIV/AIDS.

It was gathered that the suspected rapists, who also led the cult group was trailed by the police for over 10 months before he was caught in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. One of the rapist, Preye Stanley is a leader of an alledge cult group and was arrested a week ago (24th January 2006). He, however disclosed the hideout of the other culprit who were rounded up by the police and subsequently arrested at about 01:45 am.

Report had it that the allege rapist were arrested at a hideout in Okrika local government areas of Rivers State on the 30th of January, 2006 and those arrested includes Tari Bobori (21 years) and Clem Tamaye (23 years) as they were subjected to medical test. While Tari tested positive to HIV/AIDS, his friend Tamaye was negative. The test was carried out in an undisclosed government hospital in the State, putting to rest who infected the girls with the dreaded disease.

Speaking to journalists, a reliable source who doesn’t want his name mentioned in print said the medical result of the girls in the school disclosed their HIV status to be negative before the rape. He noted that investigation revealed that the girls were infected after been raped by the said rapist.

The group leader, Preye Stanley has confessed to the crime blaming it on the devil stressing that the deceased, Felicia Iyire was his friend and have been friend with her for months before the ugly incident. He called on the girls, their families and the school to forgive them for the abominable and shameful act.

As at the time of filing in this report the families of the raped girls refused to speak to newsmen as well as the girls who are yet to recover from the rape incident, while the family of the deceased are still in pains over the loss of their daughter. The police authority reaffirmed their commitment to intensify efforts to arrest the other suspects, who are Shem Tamunor (22years), Charles Obukuno (25 years) and Tanapreye Judge (20 years) who are still on the run.
