No fever than 20 people have been killed, several houses and cars have been burnt in a spontaneous rage of by a disorderly crowd of protesters in Eyaen, Benin City to protest against the declaration of the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the April 14, 2007 Edo State Governorship Election.

The violent protest by the protesters was to reject the declared governorship result just as the protesters insist that the candidate of the opposition party Action Congress (AC) Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole actually won the election and that he should be declared the winner.

Investigation by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER revealed that the protest in the community was led by one Sunday Frederick and four other persons who are members of the Action Congress.

Sunday Frederick and the four other persons who are members of the AC was alleged to have stolen ballot boxes during the governorship election and the police were already searching for the five suspects in order to arrest and persecute them.

From a reliable source, who pleaded anonymity, The NIGERIAN OBSERVER also scooped that as soon as Sunday Frederick and the four others got a hint that the police were already haunting to arrest them, they ran away from the Eyaen community to unknown destination.

Further investigation by this print medium revealed that it was when the five suspects were running away that a picture was found on the ground and from this picture, it was discovered that Sunday Frederick, a resident in the community and a AC member, was one of the suspects that led the protest in the community.

Confirming the story, another source, who did not also disclosed his name, said the police have been looking for Sunday Frederick and the four other suspects but effort of the police has not yielded any positive result because the suspects have escaped from the community to unknown whereabouts.

Meanwhile, the police, have identified Sunday Frederick from the picture as a resident in the community and a member of the AC, that joined in leading the protest, therefore the police have consequently declared him wanted.

The police advised that any person with useful information that could lead to the arrest of Sunday Frederick should report at the nearest police station.
