Tragedy struck in Ewossa community in Igueben local government area of Edo State as a middle-aged identified as Ekeikhomhen Ehiwaguan was allegedly murdered on his farm by unknown persons who stormed and attacked him on his farm on June 12th 2008.
Mr. Ekeikhomhen Ehiwaguan was said to have been involved in a protracted land dispute with his step-brother known as Okoromi Ehiwaguan over the ownership of a large parcel of land.
Information made available revealed that Okoromi Ehiwaguan had earlier warned his elder brother to stay away from the parcel of land and desist from further cultivating the land or incur his violent wrath.
However the deceased Ekeikhomhen Ehiwaguan was said to have continued farming on the land as on several occasions he was severely attacked on the disputed land by thugs with dangerous weapons led by his step brother, Okoromi Ehiwaguan.
However on June 12th 2008, Ekeikhomhen Ehiwaguan had just left for his farm where he had gone to remove and clear the overgrown weeds on the farm when all of a sudden armed thugs reportedly stormed his farm where he was cultivating in Ewossa community and murdered him in cold blood.
It was gathered that his only surviving son Mavelous Ekeikhomhen was said to have not been on the farm with him when his father’s killers stormed their farm land in Ewossa community.
Meanwhile, Ekeikhomhen Ehiwaguan corpse was later deposited at the mortuary by sympathizers in the community who went to recover his corpse from the farm as his killers immediately fled.
Mavelous Ekeikhomhen was said to have immediately fled and abandoned his community after the murder of his father.
It was gathered that his uncle Okoromi Ehiwaguan was quoted to have said that he would stop at nothing in also eliminating his elder brother’s only surviving son in order to achieve his sole aim of claiming the parcel of land to himself.
