A dispute within the Okolo family of Fugar, located in Etsako Central local government area of Edo State, has caused significant turmoil, as Bernard Okolo and some of his late elder brother’s children attempt to lay claim to 70% of the family inheritance designated for Daniel Okolo in the will.
Following the final burial of their father, Pa. Okolo, in 2009, tensions escalated within the family as Bernard Okolo and other siblings conspired to remove Daniel Okolo, the twelfth child, from the equation upon discovering that he had been allocated 70% of their late father’s will.
Reliable sources indicate that the remaining 30% was divided between Daniel Okolo’s mother, who received 15%, and his stepmother, Janet Okolo, who received the other 15%.
The distribution of the late Pa. Okolo’s property and wealth, as outlined in the will, sparked conflicts between Daniel Okolo and his siblings, as well as his uncle, Bernard Okolo.
Reports suggest that they were determined to eliminate Daniel Okolo by any means necessary, as this was seen as the only way to regain control over the 70% portion of the inheritance designated for him. Consequently, Daniel Okolo faced several attacks on his life, which tragically resulted in the loss of his sanity.
It has been alleged that Bernard Okolo vehemently opposed the contents of the will, asserting that it would not hold up. Using his influence as the leader of a dangerous occultic group within the community, he supposedly resorted to employing local charms and diabolic powers to inflict madness upon Daniel Okolo.
As a consequence of his deteriorating mental state, Daniel Okolo began wandering the community, bearing the burden of his mental affliction. Reports even indicate that he developed hearing problems in his left ear during this period.
Regrettably, efforts towards reconciliation and restoring peace within the late Pa. Okolo’s family have been entirely unsuccessful thus far. Bernard Okolo and other siblings of Daniel Okolo’s late elder brother remain steadfast in their pursuit to claim the remaining 70% of the inheritance that was intended for Daniel. Meanwhile, Daniel Okolo, now mentally disturbed, continues to wander the streets of his community, with no hope for the restoration of his lost sanity.
