BENIN CITY – The Edo State police command is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23 years old man, Jeffrey Okunta who was allegedly murdered on January, 29, 2010 by some faceless gun men suspected to be members of the most dreaded cult group, the supreme Eiye confraternity popularly known as Eiye.

Hailed from Olu in Anambra state but resided in Sakpoba road, Benin city, Edo State, Jeffrey Okunta’s lifeless body which was left in his own pool of blood elicited emotions, apprehension and pandemonium in the area.

Sympathizers at the scene who could not behold the scene, wept uncontrollably.

According to late Jeffrey Okunta’s father, Marcaulay Okunta, 60 years, who was full of lamentation while granting interview with the press, said he was at home when the news that his son was shot by some suspected cultists got to him.

He stated that upon the information, he immediately alerted the police who accompanied him to the scene where he met his son in his pool of blood.

According to Marcaulay, he, with the help of the police immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital where he was confirmed dead by the doctors on duty.

Marcaulay it was gathered reported the matter at the police station where a team of Anti- Cultism squad was deployed to unraveled the circumstances surrounding Jeffrey Okunta’s death.

THE NIGERIAN OBSERVER later gathered that one Okonofua Imade, 22 years, was arrested in connection with the incident.

Our correspondent gathered that upon interrogation, Okonofua Imade confessed Parry Agboga, John Terry, Kelvin Okafor, Philip Nosa, Moses Uyi, Sylva Okosun, Edoror Uwadia(aka Bullet) among others as members of the cult family.

Our correspondent further gathered that there was cult crisis on 29 January, 2010 which resulted in the killing of Jeffrey Okunta.

During interrogation, Okonofua Imade confessed that, while in Secondary school, one John Terry deceived him and others into being initiated as members of the Eiye confraternity.

Commenting, the Edo state police command confirmed the incident, adding that the police have declared other members, including John Uyi, Kelvin Okafor, Moses Uyi as well as other members of the cult group wanted in connection with the crime.

The police however, charged members of the public with useful information that will lead to the whereabouts of the co declared members to report at the nearest police station as handsome reward awaits him or her.
