BENIN CITY – The Nigeria Police,Edo State Command have declared a young man,Unuagbon Ekogiawe wanted for escaping from the Oko Maximum Security Prison on October 9,2010
Unuagbon Ekogiawe,who is serving a fifteen years jail term for same sex crime was sentenced to jail in November, 2007 and was already three years into the fifteen years jail term,when he escaped. The wanted young man is about twenty years old.
It would be recalled that in September,2007,Unuagbon Ekogiawe and his gay partner, Makas Usman were caught making love in Urora quarters, Ikpoba Hill area,in Benin City.
They were given the beating of their lives before the arrival of the police. Makas Usman died as a result of the serious beating he received from the crowd while Unuagbon Ekogiawe was taken by the police to the station, where he admitted after torture and interrogation by the police, to be involve in houmosexuality.
He was then charged to court in November 2007 where he was convicted and sentenced to fifteen years imprisonment until his escape.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, ASP Peter Ogboi,the Command have launched a manhunt to locate his hideout. As everything is been done by the Command to find and arrest him as soon as possible
