Pedro Omoruyi, father of three, has narrowly escaped death from Islamic Sect following another attempt on his life by an Islamic Sect in the capital of Edo State, Benin City.

It was gathered that the 38-years old man had previously escaped an attempt on his life that led to the death of his Septugenarian mother, Mrs Esther Omoruyi and friend, Osagie Osanyande.

It was further learnt that the first attempt led to the death of his mother and friend and also necessitated the relocation of his other family members from Sakponba Road area of Benin city to another location for safety.

It was in their new abode that the family were yet again attack by the same Sect where he (Pedro) narrowly escaped being killed.

Bent on eliminating the Young man who deferred them (Sect Members), his new location was soon discovered and an attempt made on his life to silence him.

A friend of the victim who pleaded anonymity, explained that Omoruyi’s predicament started when he left the Islamic fate back to Christianity.

The sources noted that on each occasion the Omoruyi’s were attacked, the sect were armed with dangerous weapons such as daggers, guns and arrows.

The source wondered why the Police who were in the known following several complaint made to them by the victim, “they turned deaf ears and blind eyes on the matter.”

According to him, “He (Pedro Omoruyi) had converted from Christian to become a Muslim in an area dominated by the Muslims and was over the years of his joining the new fate, he was accorded by the muslim sect to an enviable position in the sect.

“His predicament however started when he decided to return to his former fate at birth because of the violent nature of the sect toward Christians and their perception of Christians as “infidel”.

“However, this didn’t go down well with the sect who saw him (Omoruyi) decision as an affront to ridicule them and the muslim fateful.

“This was what led to his first attack and subsequently the second that led to the death of the matriarch of the Omoruyi’s family and his bossom friend, Ighodaro and also their relocation to another area in the City for safety.

“It was the second attempt on his life at the new location that saw to the burning of the house he occupies with his wife and three kids .

“It was after this we encouraged and mobilised for Pedro to leave the country to save himself and his young family (wife and three kids). Infact, we had to contribute fund for hin to leave the country.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr Peter Ogboi, who said the police is unaware of the matter, however said that investigation was ongoing to unravel the identity of the perpetrators of the crime.
