Kaduna:- The recent attacks on churches has assumed the status of a national embarrassment and the ceaseless bloodletting that has been the lot of some Northern parts of the country coloured the Easter celebrations, throwing several families in Kaduna into mourning. 36 persons died in that suicide bombing.

The tragedy in Kaduna occurred when a car loaded with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded with a suicide bomber at the busy Sardauna Crescent Junction, Kaduna killing not less than 20 people on the spot. 16 others were later confirmed dead in several hospitals less than two hours after. Several others were also injured.

When our reporter visited the area of the blast, part of charred remains of the car engine, was seen about 500 metres from the point of the explosion which occurred directly opposite Fina White Hotel. Junction Road, by Sardauna Crescent. The explosion dug a crater about two feet deep. It brought down the roof of Fina White Hotel.

Our reporter meet with one Mr. Ikponmwonsa Uwadia who is currently on the street following the death of in father, Mr. Matthew Uwadia in the suicide bombing that killed many worshipers. According to him he learnt of his father’s death from a nurse will still in the hospital and after his discharge, has no where to go to. Ikponmwonsa ran away from his home state Edo to join his father in Kaduna after several attempts were made on his life by Eiye Cult members for refusing to join then. He got admitted in a hospital after he arrived Kaduna due to injuries he sustained on the last attacks which warranted his father to move him from Edo state to Kaduna. Mr. Ikponmwonsa is among several other people affected by Easter suicide bombing and currently homeless.
