DELTA- If the feelers reaching the media is anything to go by, then, the last is yet to be heard of the former Militant General, Izu Lucky who was fingered as masterminder of the recent kidnapped of the mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi  Okonjo-Iwaila in Asaba, Delta State.

To this end, the police and the state government have consequently declared Izu Lucky wanted in connection with the kidnap incident.
Trouble it was learnt started with Lucky who was a leader of a former militant group called “Viper Militant Group” (VMG) in Delta State when the minister’s mother was kidnapped which elicited suspicion that he was the brain behind the kidnap incident.

Narrating the development to newsmen, a source privy to the situation and pleaded anonymity maintained that Izu Lucky was granted amnesty in 2009 with a view to paying him and his boys certain entitlements which the source said the government never fulfilled.

According to the source, Izu Lucky had approach the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2010 on the need for his amnesty entitlements to be paid but was advised to exercise some patience that the government was working out modalities with a view to paying him all his arrears after the 2011 general elections in the country.

Borned and raised in Abraka town, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State , the Abuja/ Benin City based Izu Lucky according to multiple sources was already busied wallowing in the assurance of the governor that his entitlements would soon get to him when the news of the kidnap of the Minister’s mother broke out and was fingered as responsible for the act which happened I’m December 20, 2012.

“I am still surprised why and how the government and police could declare Izu Lucky wanted in connection with the kidnap of the Minister’s mother. This is a promising young man who was granted amnesty by the government in 2009 and has been assured of all his benefits, only for the government and police to link the innocent man with such act
“I consider it a mischief”, stated  a source.

Meanwhile, attempts to get comment from the Zone 5 Police Authorities in Benin City where our Crime Correspondent gathered the the case was transferred to met a brick wall as calls and texts messages sent to the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Osifo were neither answered nor responded to as at the time of filing in this report.
