BENIN CITY- The whereabouts of a middle aged man, Osabuahien Emmanuel, who was reported to have allegedly escaped from his abductors, who are said to be members of a dreaded The Reformed Ogboni Fraternity in Nigeria, is currently causing fear and pandemonium in the land.
Emmanuel who hailed from Ekiugbo Village, Uhunmwonde Local Government Area was said to have been kidnapped sometime March, 2013 over his refusal to be initiated into the occultic group following the death of his father who was scooped to be well known superior of the group.
It was reported that the fleeing Emmanuel had on March 27, 2013 killed one member of the Ogboni Fraternity who investigation revealed was mandated by the occult group to watch over him, before fleeing the scene.
Our Crime Correspondent gathered that after the death of a member, his eldest son is expected to take over his father’s position, a situation Emmanuel allegedly objected to, citing his christian religious background as reason.
It was learnt that the Reformed Ogboni Fraternity which many viewed as ungodly, usually stipulates strigent conditions for deceased members children to undertake before being initiated.
According to findings by our Crime Correspondent, some of the laid down conditions indicated that an eldest son of any deceased member of the Ogboni Fraternity, is expected to sleep beside the corpse of his father for seven days, bath with water used to bath the deceased amongst others rites that would enable him commit into the fraternity.
According to multiple sources, who craved for annonymity, for fear of being attack, Emmanuel was said to have vehemently opposed to the initiation rites, hence, he was kidnapped and whisked away to an unknown den.
Just when the news of his kidnapped was still creating apprehension, news broke out that Emmanuel who was being watched over by one of the Ogboni members, overpowered him and hit his head with stick and escaped to an unknown destination.
Consequently, while the police have declared Emmanuel wanted for alleged murder, the Ogboni Fraternity has staged a manhunt for him over the his alleged killing of their member.
However, the family of Emmanuel were perplexed in hopelessness as the whereabouts of their son remains unknown.
