BENIN CITY: Wander they say shall never end as the police command in Benin City, Edo State marveled at the dastard killing of a young man thus prompting intervention, declaring wanted the duo in the act of complicity leading to alleged murder and a consequential arson in an ensued free-for-all fight in Upper Uwa Street axis of the locality.
Trouble is said to have started on May 21, 2013 at about 7:30 when the head of a vigilant group, Lucky Amadasun engaged in argument with one Osasu who has been quizzed for alleged criminal conduct. Report is however saying that Osasu became evasive to questions put to him by Lucky in a deliberate attempt to unravel the reasons behind his alleged behavior. One Erhiagbonye Bright who stood by during the argument and another, Amaosa Otabor who is said stepped into the matter for peace initiative could not help issues as the presence of Bright was deemed aided and abetted disaffection during the argument, indeed in support of Lucky.
It was however authoritatively gathered that as the situation become tense Lucky Amadasum became more emotional and differ all interventions and threw caution to the wind, brought out a gun and shot, killing Amaosa Otabor as he was struck at the chest. All around therefore ran as they scampered to safety.
The news consequently spread like wide fire. Amaosa Otabor family members in anger took to the street armed with inflammatory substance and set the family house of Erhiagbonye Bright on fire, understanding the fact that he is of same family and residence with Lucky Amadasun. Vehicle in the premises was also affected in the inferno. As the fire rage they chanted war songs and threatened to kill the duo of Lucky Amadasun and Erhiagbonye Bright as they were deemed culpable. Notwithstanding, police intervention saved situation as they were timely and chased away the crowed that besieged the area.
At the time of this report investigation was still on-going. Homicide unit could not speak on the matter. The police spokesman inspector Isaac Imozee said the duo of Lucky Amadasun and Erhiagbonye Bright have been declared wanted following records of preliminary reports for conspiracy, murder, possession of illegal arms and disturbance of public peace.
However, a visit to Upper Uwa Axis could not help findings as residents were not willing to speak. Whispers indicated Erhiagbonye Bright was alleged seen after the incident in his home town, Obozogbe in Orhionwon Local Government Area. All efforts to crave the indulgence of the local people proved abortive as they seemed to dread strange faces, especially persons with the semblance of security operatives.
