UROMI – The family of Akhetuamhen in Uromi Esan East Local Government Area Edo State has cried out for help over the threats and harassment meted out on members of the family by a prominent and popular politician,(name withheld) in Uromi
A family source who spoke to *The* NIGERIAN OBSERVER on condition of anonymity reveals that August 2, 2013, his cousin, Akhetuamhen Lucky, was using his vehicle for his supply business,in company of his friend and uncle. The vehicle skidded off the road and hit a transformer at Amadocha quarters in Uromi, resulting in fire outbreak. The fire razed about three houses in the area,and two occupants of the burnt houses were roasted to death.
The source further said that one of the owners of the burnt houses was the popular politician, who was also the owner of the burnt transformer.
While Lucky and his friend sustain injuries and were rushed to the hospital, Lucky’s uncle was killed in the accident.
It was gathered that, while Lucky was still recuperating in the hospital, the popular politician was using his influence and wealth to threatening him to buy the burnt transformer and also to rebuild his house.
He spent about two weeks in the hospital and he ran to Lagos State to avoid been taken to prison.While he was in Lagos,his parents were arrested and kept in police detention and they would be released when their son, Lucky, shows up in the police station.They were however released after two weeks in detention.
Not relenting in making sure that Lucky suffers and pays for what he did, unknown persons trailed him to Lagos.
After this incident,he has to escape, as his life was no longer safe.
Since his escape,the popular politician has made life a living hell for the Akhetuamhen family as he has vowed to deal with members of the family,if they did not provide Akhetuamhen Lucky.
