The Nigerian police, Edo state police command has reassured members of the general public of the command readiness to re-arrest one Mr Emmanuel Ofeimu (25) for not showing up in court, in the case of homosexual proffered against him and one Mr Matthew Timothy (27) who were caught in the act’s of sodomy at his residence Adonia hostel Abraka Delta state.

It was gathered that about few month’s ago, a case of homosexual was reported at the Abraka division of the Nigerian police, the divisional police officer in charge of the station told the press that they acted on a tip off, on getting to the scene of incident, the two persons were arrested and taken to the station, during the interrogation the two accuse persons confessed to the crime, a development that prompted his division to transfer the case to (AIG ) zone 5 office Benin city for further investigation.

Emmanuel Ofeimu was however granted bail and placed under house arrest after preliminary investigation, the matter was later charged to court, Matthew Timothy (27) was brought to court by the police, he was led into the dock by prosecuting counsel and he pleaded guilty to the charges, Emmanuel Ofeimu (25) did not appear in court, the prosecuting counsel informed the trial judge, that the police informed him that Emmanuel Ofeimu has jumped bail.

Our crime desk spoke to the whistleblower, who said he reported the matter to the police on seeing the two committing act’s of sodomy about 12 : 30am, on February 15, 2014.

A press release issued in Benin city by the police image maker, Edo state police command DSP Stephen Owochei made available to the press including the Nigerian Observer stated that Emmanuel Ofeimu whom the command declared wanted is light in complexion, about 162cm height with brown eyes, black hair and stated that investigation is ongoing on his disappearance.

PPRO Stephen Onwochei reiterated that homosexual practice is against the Nigerian state and is punishable under the law of prohibition of same – sex marriage, it carries 14-years jail term.

He reassured members of the public that the police will not leave any stone unturned and they will do everything within their powers to bring the perpetrators to book and he appealed to members of the public to offer useful information that could lead to the rearrest of Emmanuel Ofeimu and they should please report to the nearest police station or state police command’s throughout the federation for a handsome reward.

At press time, the whereabouts of Mr Emmanuel Ofeimu remain very vague.
