KANO – Youths suspected to be Islamic fanatics attacked and killed innocent Christians at Baptist Church Compand in the Sabon Gari area, Kano on March 16, 2014.
An eyewitness to the incident, who spoke to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER on condition of anonymity,said that the youths who were in their hundreds, attacked the Baptist Church School premises, in Abedie, Sabon Gari,Kano State and killed over eight persons including the new teacher that was posted to the missionary school on January 2, 2014, Mr Ikhanoba Augustine.
The eyewitness also said that,the wife of the new teacher, Mrs Ikhanoba Janet,their daughter and the son’s girlfriend, who came to visit them were also killed by the Muslim youths. While the son, Ikhanoba Kelly was spared,as he was not in the school premises,when the attacked happened.
The eyewitness further stated that, there have several attacks by Muslims on churches and missionary schools in several northerner states. He said that this latest attack caught them on aware as the Muslims leaders in the community have assured them of their safety in a stakeholder meeting between the Christians and Muslims religious leaders held in December 2014.
Since the attack, several christians have fled the area The whereabout of Ikhanoba Kelly,who lost his girlfriend,sister and parents,is still unknown.
