A middle aged man, Mr Akighbe Lucky has been declared missing after he allegedly shoot one Mr Akinoba Okosun to death at Uromi Area of Esan North East Council around May,2014.

The Esan North East Area Commander of the Nigeria Police,ASP David Jimmoh, who stated this in a Media Chat, alleged that Akighbe Lucky had immediately fled the scene of incident.

Jimmoh who said a manhunt for the man is ongoing, however said the law enforcement agency is currently carrying out investigation to unravel the motive behind the killing.

According to him, in the early hour of Monday,2 May 2014, we received a call from an unanimous source of possible murdered case at the deceased man family compound in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, were we met a man in the pool of his blood, lying dead.

Our preliminary investigation revealed that the man who is now at large, who also is the son to Mr Akighbe John was responsible for the shooting of Mr Akinoba Okosun to death.

The case now is that a crime has been committed, but it’s now rest on us, the Police, to investigate the reason for the crime and bring the suspect to book”he said.”

Meanwhile,a twist to the alleged murder case have been unraveled, with the deceased man family describing it as case of dispute over a piece of farmland between the deceased man and the father of Akighbe Lucky over ownership.
A spokesman of the deceased man family one Mr Udo Okosun, described the incident as a desperate act by Akighbe Lucky to shoot their uncle to death.

According to him, they both have been disputing the farmland for sometime now and the elders of the community have called them for settlement but all still to no avail before this incident happened.

He stressed that their refusal to settled themselves necessitated their hot argument they both meet at the farm ground which led to them fighting and Akighbe Lucky picked up his father’s gun and shoot Mr Akinoba Okosun to death.

Mr Suleiman Oboh an uncle to the fleeing man (Akighbe Lucky) said,it is only God that will keep Akighbe Lucky safe because the deceased man people have spread their drag net around to ensure he meet with the same fate that befell their Father”.

He added that Akighbe Lucky woe is further compounded with the facts that community have also place a curse on him, should he ever come around,he is also wanted by the Police as well. You can see how terrible his situation is,”he said.”

My fear for Akighbe Lucky is that no matter where he is in this country, they will get him, apart from being well known, the people of the deceased man are very connected, with a network of influence across the country.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the State Police Command,Mr Moses Nkonbe, said investigation have been launched into the matter.
