Lagos-Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Lagos State, has  urged Lagos State legislators to support his ambition.
Ambode made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Mr Adeyemi Ikuforiji, at the Lagos State House of Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja.
The candidate, who contested for the APC ticket along with Ikuforiji, said that Ikuforiji, had been a rallying point for all the contestants.
“Ikuforiji has ensured that we all came together as one voice after the primary.
“We are all winners and will work together for the progress of the state; we will move the state forward together.
“I came here to seek the support of all the 40 lawmakers in the assembly.
“The state cannot move forward unless the legislative and executive arms work together.
“I believe in team spirit; once we win, we will work together as a team to develop the state.
“Our functions are different, but our objectives are the same,’’ he said.
Ambode, a former Accountant-General of the state, said that the cooperation of the lawmakers would give him grassroots support.
“It is not about if someone is coming back to the assembly or not; it is about the relationship we have built.
“We have to work together for the elections,’’ he said.
Ambode hailed the speaker for ensuring that the House was stable in his two terms.
The candidate said that the state needed a governor who would build on the achievements of the current administration.
“We can all see that oil revenue is dwindling.
“We need someone who can come up with additional sources of revenue without making life difficult for the state residents.
“We will continue with our tradition of improving Lagos State without depending on oil revenue,’’ he said.
Responding, Ikuforiji expressed the hope that Ambode would facilitate the development of Lagos State, if elected the governor.
He promised that the lawmakers would work for Ambode’s success at the 2015 governorship election.
