Abuja – The Minister of Water Resources, Mrs Sarah Ochekpe, has urged all Nigerians to be security conscious before, during and after the yuletide and New Year celebrations.
Ochekpe made the call at the ministry’s rendering of Christmas Carol 2014 in Abuja.
She said it was important for Nigerians to take security seriously as they celebrate Christmas and the New Year festivities.
She said Nigeria’s enemy was the devil which was seeking who to devour during the festivities, saying there was need to be on the watch for such forces.
According to her, activities of insurgents and the likes should not be left to government alone, saying security was everyone’s business.
“As you make merry, as you go about visiting families and friends, please be vigilant.
“Nigeria is our country, no matter where we travel to; north, south, east or west, there is no place like home.”
Ochekpe also called on all Christians to conduct themselves in line with biblical injunctions, saying light must overcome darkness.
She also urged Nigerians to continue to work for peace and unity of the country, saying no development could take place in an atmosphere of civil disorder.
In his sermon, Pastor Andrew Omale, from the Aso Villa Chapel, called on all members of staff to live a purpose-driven life.
He said it was important for people to allow God to take control of their lives, adding that sin was of the devil.
He said when sin vanishes; an individual carries the blessings of eternal life, adding that when Christians act well, the nation benefits.
Omale called on all Nigerians not to panic as the general elections draw nearer, saying it was only God’s plan that would stand in 2015.
