GOMBE (GOMBE STATE), The Chairman Gombe State Sports Commission , Malam Faruk Yerma , has described the recent relegation of Gombe Utd FC as the worst thing that has ever happened to the club.
Yerma told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe on Thursday that the club had never been relegated since it joined the Premier League in 1990,
“This is something that will forever remain in the hearts of our supporters for a very long time
“But our supporters should know that it is not our making, we have did our best to see the team remained in the premiership”, he said.
He assured supporters that the management of the club will go back to the drawing board and make some adjustments.
“I am optimistic that the team will be back in the league within one premier season”, he said.
The chairman said that relegation was not a new thing as it had happened to many clubs.
“Our fans should please understand and reason with us. Things will improve in the nearest future,” he said.
Gombe Utd FC was relegated in the just concluded 2013/2014 premier league.
