NIGERIA striker Sone Aluko has thumbed up his Super Eagles teammate, John Obi Mikel following his first Champions League strike in Chelsea’s 3-1 win against Sporting at the Stamford Bridge.
The Blues’ midfielder who came under heavy barrage of criticism following his side’s 2-1 defeat at Newcastle United over the weekend capped an impressive display with a solo effort – his first in the history of the competition.
Fabregas swung in a free kick from the left hand side that was flicked towards goal by Cahill. Mikel and Matic were fighting for the ball at the back post but it was the Nigerian who got the final touch to increase the lead for the Blues.
According to Aluko, Obi’s quality is a testimony why he remains a key figure in the west London side’s set up for over a decade.
“Massively underrated in my opinion amongst Nigerians, there’s a reason he’s been at Chelsea for so long! It’s not easy. He sabi!,” Aluko tweeted.
The goal was Mikel’s first of the season and fifth in his career with the Stamford Bridge giants.
