Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State said that the 2015 general elections would make the country more united than ever.
Akpabio stated this during the 2015 Akwa Ibom State Solemn Assembly and Thanksgiving Interdenominational service at the Ibom Hall in Uyo.
He said that the upcoming general polls would not split the country as Nigerians were becoming more patriotic and yearning for good governance.
Reports state that the theme of the Solemn Assembly is “It is a Good Thing to Give Thanks unto the Lord”.
The governor maintained that the God who brought the country together did not make a mistake.
He warned those making inciting statements ahead of the forthcoming general elections to desist from such so that they would not incur the wrath of God.
“I plead with Nigerians to seek peace and love one another according to the dictates of the Almighty God.
“The best solution to peace and coexistence in the country is the re-election of Dr Goodluck Jonathan as the President in the coming election.
“It is not the southerners that would re-elect Jonathan but the whole country; that is why we have a northerner and a Muslim as the Vice President in the person of Arch. Namadi Sambo.
“This shows that it has nothing to do with ethnic or religious affiliations but the will of God,” he said.
