THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yobe has said it has distributed 75 per cent of Permanent Voter Cards of Internally Displaced Persons from Gujba and Gulani local government areas.
Malam Habu Zarma, Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state disclosed this in Damaturu at a stakeholder’s workshop on the status of Internally Displaced Persons in the state.
He said the two affected local government areas have a total of 107,549 displaced persons with 53,830 and 53,719 displaced persons from Gulani and Gujba local government areas respectively.
The commissioner regretted that 25 per cent of the registered voters were yet to collect their PVC.
He called on them to come forward and collect their cards to enable them exercise their constitutional rights in the February elections.
“We will do our best in ensuring all eligible IDPs within and outside the camp exercise their constitutional rights of voting in February 2015.
“We have carefully identified voting centres for IDP from Gujba in Damaturu and, Gulani in Fika” the commissioner said.
