An Igbo man, Nwanga Obinna has been reportedly kidnapped by insurgents suspected to be Boko Haram members along the Benin -Auchi road.

According to information made available to the Nigerian Observer, Nwanga Obinna was driving in a car when members of the sect from a nearby forest, opened fire on the car forcing them to stop.

A source who did not want his name in print said, “immediately the car came to a halt, the sect members dragged them out of the car and started kicking the occupants violently on the ground even as some of them tried to resist them.

“One of the suspect was however taken away when one of the sect members, used an object to smash the victim’s leg, asking him to get up and follow them.” the source said.

Reports in the community indicated that kidnapping of innocent people was a common feature along the Benin-Auchi road and that usually, victims were taken away as far as to the northern part of the country where they are used as targets, strapped with explosives to bomb market places, buildings, churches and mosques.

Confirmed reports revealed that recent bombings in FCT and other parts of northern Nigeria were carried out by the insurgents and their agents some of whom are victims of kidnapping by the most dangerous terrorists ,Boko Haram.

Meanwhile, concerted efforts are underway by all the relevant security agencies of government to arrest and prosecute all those involved in the wanton carnage by the insurgents and their agents resulting in deaths of innocent Nigerians.

The cases of kidnapping along the Benin-Auchi – Ahor road in recent times, have been a cause of concern for road users and security experts as hardly a week goes by without people being kidnapped on the road.

As at the time of this report, the whereabouts of the said Nwanga Obinna was still unknown as information gathered, revealed that he was a married man who hails from Ebonyi State and lived in Benin City with his family.

When contacted for further information, the police in a statement said it was yet to receive details of the kidnap, adding that as soon as there were details of the kidnapping, its men and officers would swing into action for detailed investigation.
