AC Milan can return to the pinnacle of world football and qualify for the Champions League this year, according to owner Silvio Berlusconi.
The Rossoneri finished eighth in Serie A last season and are currently in seventh place near the halfway point of the current campaign.
Despite their tough year, Berlusconi feels that Filippo Inzaghi’s men can become one of the strongest sides on the continent. He is targeting a third-place finish in the league and victory in the Coppa Italia.
“I have always said that I would never trade our squad with anyone in Italy,” he told Milan Channel. “Not with Roma’s or even Juventus’.
“I think we have the opportunity, with this squad, to return to be protagonists in Italy, in Europe and in the world.
“I don’t think we need reinforcements in January. I think we have a team that is balanced in all areas.
“Our strength, compared to the other teams, is in our squad depth.
“This year we want third place in the league – we need to get into Europe – and we also want to win the Coppa Italia.
“I believe that we absolutely can impose ourselves as the best team in Italy in 2015. We always have to go into the field with the intention of being masters of the field and the masters of the game.”
