Kano – Dr Danburan Abubakar, a House of Representatives candidate for Kano Municipal on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has promised to introduce town hall meetings, if elected.
He made the promise while addressing newsmen at the “NUJ Platform’’ in Kano.
The candidate said town hall meetings would give him the opportunity to discuss with the people of his constituency on issues of national interest.
He added that “I will be meeting with people from my constituency from time to time to know their needs to enable me to make case for them at the National Assembly.
“This, I believe, will go a long way in assisting me to know what they want in the constituency in the area of infrastructure development and others.’’
Abubakar, who is the immediate past Commissioner for Information in Kano State, said the town hall meeting would bridge the communication gap between him and the people he hoped to represent at the National Assembly.
“The people of my constituency will have the chance to meet with me and discuss their problems with a view to finding solutions to the proble,s,’’ he said.
He, therefore, called on APC members to vote for the party’s candidates at all levels during the February elections.
The candidate also urged them to desist from acts capable of causing trouble in the state during the polls.
He said “we will continue to sensitise our supporters on the need to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the elections.
“When there is violence, you don’t know who and who it will affect.’’
