KADUNA – A political group, the El-Rufai Coalition, yesterday urged the Federal Government and INEC not to compromise the credibility of the forthcoming general election.
Balarabe Birnin-Yero, the Coordinator of the group made the call at a press briefing in Kaduna, after a meeting of its coordinators from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.
“We call on the federal government of Nigeria, security agencies and all Nigerians to give the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) maximum cooperation to conduct free and fair election on 28th March and 11th April 2015.”
The group called on Nigerians to collect their permanent voter cards, and conduct themselves in line with the electoral guidelines on election days, “so as to achieve successful, non-violence elections.”
They warned voters against any behaviour that would truncate the elections, stressing that it was important for everyone involved to be orderly during the polls.
The group appealed to security agencies to be fair in handling issues that would arise during the elections, adding that anybody caught involved in election malpractice should be prosecuted without bias.’’
Also speaking, Hajiya Zainab Abubakar, the Women Leader of the coalition, urged women to obtain their PVCs and come out en-masse to vote for the All progressive Congress (APC).
Abubakar advised them not to be lured into selling their voter cards or engage in any form of violence.
