OZA-NOGOGO (DELTA)- Terrorists suspected to be Niger-delta militants on Monday morning invaded Oza-Nogogo Secondary School in Delta State, and abducted 18 students in the process.

Names of the abducted students as given by the Principal of the School, Mr. Osaro Emmanuel are: Victor Ifeanyi, Omorotionmwen Abel, Iziegbe Steven, Idemudia John, Obi Lawrence, Amos Paul, Kelly Adejor, Onome Fred, Okhomina Osunde, Aruna Sulemai.

Others are: Omoregbe Brown, Felix Okoh, Matthew Oboh, Mutiu Adewale, Ishaika John, Owen Boboye, Kennedy Amusan and Idowu Friday.

The Militants were said to have stormed the school in the early hours when the students were in morning assembly.

Speaking with journalists, the school principal said that 10 of the affected students recently concluded their Junior Secondary School Examination, while the remaining eight were promoted into JSS 3.

He stated that the students were lured with free enlistment into the Nigerian Army by the suspects, adding that unknown to the students, their parents and the school management that the suspects were members of the dreaded Niger-delta militant group, Debam.

According to him, the 18 students were the ones that agreed to be enlisted in the Army especially as their parents/guardians have given them the node to go ahead.

The fake soldiers according to the school penultimate week donated free school uniforms to the 18 abducted students following their acceptance to join the army, a ploy they used to lured the students into militancy.

A source who never wanted her name in print over fear of been attacked narrated: “I was on my farm working when I saw some armed militants with some students of Oza-Nogogo Secondary School.

“The students were tied to the ground while I heard the militants threatening that they will be killed if they attempt to runway.

“The students were later moved into the forest after torturing them severely”.

Contacted, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Okoro Matthew, while confirming the incident, said no arrest has been made in connection with the kidnapped students.

He called on anyone with useful information that would lead to the freeing of the students to go to any security formation in the state, just as he assured people of their safety.

Meanwhile,. as at the time of this report,. the whereabouts and safety of the 18 students remain unknown.
