BENIN CITY- The Police Authorities in Edo State have declared wanted one Desmond Ehigiamusoe wanted over the death of his girlfriend, Miss Sonia Okoro.
It was learnt that Miss Sonia allegedly died forthnight ago from excessive bleeding following an attempt to terminate her pregnancy of about three months old.
Our crime correspondent gathered that trouble started sometime in 2015 when Sonia Okoro got pregnant for her boyfriend Desmond, a situation that Desmond agree to take full responsibility of her well being.
Desmond was said to have warned Sonia not to temper with the pregnancy, even as he assured her of taken care of her and the baby upon delivery. This was an assurance Sonia rebuffed, as she claimed that her father would disown her if discovered.
A source privy to the incident who do not want her name mentioned over security reasons disclosed that ” Because Sonia never wanted her father to be aware of her pregnancy, she took some pills to terminate the pregnancy without the notice of her boyfriend, Desmond Ehigiamusoe.
“The pills she took caused her complications and she died from suspected excessive bleeding while she was been rushed to the hospital by some good samaritans”, our source said.
Angered by the death of Sonia, some of her family relations went beserk and invaded Desmond fathers’ residence, 26 Upper Uwa Street in Benin City where they wreaked untold havoc before declaring him wanted dead or alive on the allegations that he Desmond was responsible for the death of their daughter.
It was further gathered that the father of the deceased, Sunday Okoro later incidented the case at the police station, just as the police were said to have swung into action immediately by arresting Desmond’s father, Mr. John Ehigiamusoe when Desmond could not be reached.
Contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (DSP) Moses Nkombe while confirming the arrest of Mr. John Ehigiamusoe, said that the police have declared the now-on-the run 21-year old Desmond wanted in connection with the death of Sonia Okoro.
He, however, appealed to members of the public who may have useful information that could lead to the arrest of Desmond, assuring that a handsome reward will has been set outside by the command for such informant, as well as treating the information with strict confidence.
