LAGOS – The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has insisted on the enforcement of the speed limiting device for commercial vehicles from June 1.
Mr Nseobong Akpabio, the incoming Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO), Lagos zone, made this known while taking over from his predecessor, Mr Charles Aborchi.
“We have taken the sensitization drive to parks and garages, churches, mosques and market places and we have also implored the cooperation of the media to help in propagating the enforcement,’’ he said.
The new ZCO, who is in charge of Lagos and Ogun States, called for more media partnership to help in promoting road safety in the country.
According to him, road safety was not limited to the FRSC’s officials, but is everybody’s business.
Akpabio was at different times, the Corps Public Education officer, Lagos State Sector Commander and the zonal commander in charge of Delta, Edo and Anambra States.
Earlier, Aborchi identified stubborness as the greatest problem of motorists in Lagos, saying many of them find it difficult to obey traffic regulations.
He, therefore, urged them to strictly obey traffic laws to ease the recurrent traffic congestion in the state.
