ABUJA – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on security agencies, the Independent National Electoral Commission and all national institutions connected to April 11 elections to remain neutral.
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday and signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
The party said as national institutions, the police, DSS, Civil Defence Corps, the military and INEC must shun partisanship, and discharge their duties dispassionately and professionally.
The party said it would no longer tolerate situations where security agencies and INEC collude with a political party to terrorise innocent citizens.
“We do not seek any unfair advantage over any other party. We do not seek any favours from any organisation.
“All we demand is that national institutions that have any role to play in the forthcoming elections must carry out their duties fairly and professionally,’’ the statement read.
“The forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly elections provide the first real test for our security agencies and INEC to depart from their old, unprofessional and highly partisan paths.
“They should embrace professionalism and neutrality, because this will be the first elections to be held since Nigerians voted for change.
“All eyes will be watching the national institutions to see if they are ready to embrace the change that has come in spite of them, or they will like to persist in their old, unedifying ways,’’ it added.
