BENIN CITY – The College of Education, Ekiadolor-Benin (COLBEN) has been thrown into total disarray by the act of cultism by some students and lecturers in the campus.

According to our correspondent, a very senior lecturer in the Dept. of Education, who wouldn’t want his name mentioned for fear of victimization that narrated the story in a very soba mood, said that since after the cultism crisis that erupted in their school recently, the faith of one young student Enoma Francis, a humble student in his early twenties was said to become a target of the blood letting cultists. He was last seen in the campus on his way to a ceremony, tagged birthday party that was organized in the campus, unknowing to him and other invitees that it was organized by some dare devil cultists on campus, with a view to initiating new members into their fold forcefully and violently.

Another reliable source around the campus, who wouldn’t want his name mentioned, that further narrated the detailed story said the clandestine party was organized by members of the dreaded Neo Black Movement, otherwise known as “Black Axe” in the campus. But the invited guests didn’t know it was organized for initiation of new members into the cult.

During the party, some of the invitee innocent students, who refused initiation were mercilessly and brutally beaten to pulp, with fatal injuries inflicted on them, who survived death by the whiskers.

The source further revealed that specifically and particularly the case of Francis Enoma and three others; Paul Ada, Mark Gbenoba and Ade Moju became too precarious amongst the lot because, they were the ones who took the bull by the horns, led by Francis Enoma to report the issue to the school management. Due to the aftermath detailed and fast investigation, through the school authority, the police was able to apprehend some of the culprits.

In a revenge mission, some of the cult members who escaped the arrest then placed Francis especially, believed to have led others on a twenty hours surveillance. They vowed to smoke them out for daring to leak their secret to the school authority. The student’s lives have been at a serious risk as they cannot walk freely in campus that has been devastated again.

But when the situation became very unbearable, Enoma Francis and some few others went to meet one of the school lecturers, (name withheld) with the godly mind to seek refuge in a fatherly manner that turned out to even be worse than were and what they are running for.

Instead of giving the students the expected protection, the elderly lecturer told them that the only way they can be protected is to join another greater and more dreaded cult (The Ogboni Fraternity) in the campus, which he the lecturer personally belong. This the students equally resisted. But because the students were already aware of the lecturer’s membership of Ogboni Fraternity and may expose him, they also equally became targets of that body too, who were now looking for their heads day and night, after leaving his house.

Because of the serious threat to life from both sides, some of the targeted students including the most sought after four, had to abandon their academic programme in school and run for their dear lives as there was no more hope and where to hide and the school loosing some of their best brains in the process.

Since then, nothing has been heard of, or from Enoma Francis, Paul Ada, Mark Gbenoba and Ade Moju either in school, at home or anywhere. Whether they have been captured and killed nobody can really tell.

Commenting on behalf of the school Management, Deacon Dickson Agbonwaneten (Public Relations Officer) appealed to the Edo State and Ovia North East Local Governments to please come to the aid of the school in the area of security, as it is difficult to sleep with two eyes closed, night and day.
He further lamented a situation where these lawless elements just operate in the society, kill, main and waste human souls with inpurity and go unscathed. Whenever arrested the following day they are seen rooming the streets again, because some of the top people in authority are also members who back them.
When contacted, an anonymous police officer said though he is not competent to speak on the matter, but however, revealed under close confidentiality that the matter has been handed over to a higher police division in Benin.
