… Okuta FC, Samco City FC clash for glory

Football enthusiasts in Benin City will witness an exciting showdown today as Okuta FC and Samco City FC battle for supremacy in the final of the second edition of the Bright Osayi-Samuel Under-13 Football Tournament.
The tournament, organised to nurture young football talents in Edo State, is a community development initiative by Nigerian international and Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, who is giving back to his roots.
The final match, alongside the closing ceremony, will take place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, at 3:00 PM.
Osayi-Samuel, who plays for Turkish giants Fenerbahce, is expected to grace the occasion in person and present the gold trophy to the champions. His homecoming marks a significant highlight of the event, celebrating his commitment to youth development in Edo State.
Preceding the final game, the third-place match between Namo FA and Delight FC will kick off at 2:00 PM at the same venue.
In a statement issued by the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA), organisers of the tournament, a grand reception awaits Osayi-Samuel on his arrival in Benin City this morning.
The statement further noted that the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has pledged full support to the Edo FA in honouring the Super Eagles star for his contributions to grassroots football.
According to the Chairman of Edo FA, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, the event is not just the finale of a football competition but also a celebration of the homecoming of “our very own football icon,” Bright Osayi-Samuel.
He described Osayi-Samuel as an inspiration to upcoming footballers in the state, adding that all football stakeholders, including clubs, coaches, players, fans, and supporters, have been invited to witness the grand finale.
