This is a very serious problem we find in the lives of people. The story in the scriptures of a man who was epileptic, recorded for us in the gospel of St Matthew, chapter 17:14-21: “And when they were come to the multitude there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed; for of times he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief; for verily I say unto you. If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not! out but by prayer and fasting’. Verse 21 tells us of Jesus opinion of this problem when he said that “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”. Attacks of the deaf and dumb spirit is usually serious and sever and intractable, We find the same approach in Mark 9:17-29: And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him; and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away; and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. He answered him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him unto me. And they brought him unto him; and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, of a child. And oft times it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, why could not we cast him out? And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting” The same episode is seen in Mark 7:32 and Matthew 9:32-33 and Matthew 12:22. Jesus Christ over-powered these demons and cast them out. The key is praying and fasting. This is where the church is weak.

The scriptures confirm that the deaf and dumb spirit can be dealt with spiritually, There are instances in the Bible of this:-
Isaiah 35:6 — “Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing; for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert”.
Matthew 9:32-33 — “As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake; and the multitudes marveled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel”.
Matthew 12:22 — “Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb; And he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw”.
Mark 7:32 — “And again, departing from the coasts of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coast of Decapolis”.
Mark 9:25 — “When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him”.
There are so many passages in the bible telling us of spiritual healing, which is the principal focus of this book.
The following passages confirm spiritual healing; read then soulfully.
Exodus 15:26 — “And said if thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD that healeth thee’.
Psalm 41:4 — I said, LORD, be merciful unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee”.
Isaiah 53:5 —“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed”.
Jeremiah 3:22 — “Return, ye backsliding children and I will heal your backslidings, Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God”.
Hosea 6:1 — ‘Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up”.
Luke 4:18 — “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to peach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”.
Revelations 22:2— “In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve runner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations”.
DEALING WITH DEAF AND DUMB SPIRITS
NOTE
For effectiveness and good result, pray and fast in the mode as prescribed in
Isaiah 58:6-12.
Acceptable systems are:-
(1) 011 – No breakfast
(i) 001 – No breakfast, No Lunch
(ii) 000 – Dry fasting
(iv) Combine fasting with regular prayers — 9am, 12noon, 3pm
and 6pm (minimum).
(i) Declare a fast and praying for 3 days from 6am — 6pm before these prayers. Dry fasting is recommended.
(ii) Confession of Sin: The affected person prays a prayer of confession of sins of commission and commission. Confess the sin of your forefathers and revoke every subsisting curses and evil covenant. Break all curses, especially inherited curses. Bind and cast out the demons attached to these curses.
(iii) Prayer and Fasting: From what Jesus Christ said in Mark 9:29, when he said: “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting”, ministration must be preceded by prayer and fasting. In most cases the afflicted person may not be in a position to pray and fast.
The relations and the church can undertake the praying and fasting on his behalf. This is vital.
(iv) Rhema Prayer Attack: Pray this following rhema prayer seriously until your spirit is soaked with it over and over again until it registers in your mind so that the spoken word rhema can come out. “Jesus Christ was wounded for my transgressions, bruised for my iniquities, the chastisement of my peace was upon him and with his stripes I am healed (Isaiah 53:5). Father, You said You will heal my backslidings, (Jeremiah 3:22). You promised to take away from me all sickness and that none of the evil diseases of Egypt shall be upon me, (Deuteronomy 7:15). Having spoiled principalities and powers, my Lord Jesus made a show of them openly and triumphed over them (Colossians 2:15). Father I know that with you nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37). Lord, deliver me from this affliction in Jesus’ name.
