AWKA – Mr Sunday Ajayi, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Anambra, has advised motorists not to ply the Okija bridge that got damaged in 2013.
Ajayi gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in Awka on Wednesday.
Newsmen report that the long bridge was damaged by fire incident that occurred at the refuse dump beneath it.
The FRSC boss wondered why motorists were using the bridge in spite of its structural defect.
He urged them to be patient until the bridge was repaired and certified for use by engineers whom were working hard to repair it.
“We wish to inform motorists that the bridge at Okija in Ihiala is still not safe for use, and doing so amounts to endangering their lives and those of other road users.
