ROUGHLY 70 percent of an adult body is made up of water at birth, and it accounts for approximately 80 percent of an infant’s weight. Water dissolves more substances than any other liquid.
Water is also one of the basic necessities of life. Air is considered to be the most important element in life, after air comes water because it  is said hat humans can go as much as a month without food, but can not survive more than a week without water. A healthy person can drink about three gallons (forty eight cups) of water per day, water is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival, because nothing can be substituted for water and that is why when we are thirsty, no matter the quantity of other liquid drinks we take, our thirst keeps increasing until it is quenched by the intake of water.

Severe Dehydration
It occurs when the fluid loss is about 10 percent
Effect of severe dehydration
It leads to decrease in blood volume, decrease in cardiac output, low blood pressure, hypovocemic cardiac shock.

Use of oral dehydration therapy (ORT). It is the treatment of rehydration in which oral rehydration solution (ORS) is administered orally. ORS composition it include Anhydrous glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, trisidium citrate.
The treatment option depends principally on the severity of dehydration. Some age groups are prone to dehydration.
Infant. This is because of severe dehydration and vomiting which maybe bacterial or viral.
The Elderly: This is due to increased fluid loss and decreased fluid intake.
