WARRI -The purported concession of the Warri Port by the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) has continued to draw mixed reactions from relevant stakeholders in  the Maritime Sector .
A group under the auspices of NPA Warri Port Stakeholders’ Forum have hit back at the  BPE over its defence of the purported concession of NPA Warri Old Port Terminal ‘B’, insisting that neither the BPE or National Council on Privatization (NCP) has the Constitutional right to undertake the concession in 2014 as a result of ICRC Act of 2005.
According to the stakeholders, all projects handled by the BPE in 2006 in line with the Infrastructure Concession Regulation Commission (ICRC) Act have been handed over to the ICRC, hence the BPE report which claimed that Terminal ‘B’ of the 24 Terminals Concessioned by it in 2006 to Associated Marine Services (AMS) due to alleged bad shape and later relocated to Terminal ‘A’ New Port, Warri, showed that the BPE only contradicted itself and implies that “Terminal ‘B’ therefore remains not allotted”.
In a fresh petition   signed by Messrs  Emiko Oghomienor, Tommy Gbugbuda, Oritsema Olley and Jonathan Durris Orugbor  and addressed to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan titled, “Re: Illegal Concession of NPA Warri Old Port Terminal ‘B’ by BPE,  A Clarification of the Issues”, the NPA Warri Port Stakeholders Forum accused officials of the NCP/BPE of resorting “to concocting lies in order to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians to facilitate their acts of impunity” aimed at patronizing their cronies and to “avoid the scrutiny of ICRC Governing Board which is made up of very eminent Nigerians of proven Integrity”.
While wondering why the  BPE has not   yet  fully privatized all the federal government assets marked for privatization” under its purview  and yet  dabbling “into the functions of another agency which it has been relieved of by law, the Stakeholders  called on President Goodluck Jonathan to institute a process for the BPE, also copied the President –Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.) among other ministries, departments and agencies.
