IRRUA – For refusing to subscribe to the secret oath of the dreaded Ogboni Fraternity, a 21-year-old man, Isaac Ekeoba has put his life in jeopardy as he is now being hunted by the killing squad of the cult group.
Our reporter gathered that following the death of Isaac’s father, High Chief Ekeoba on November 15, 2012 under mysterious circumstances, the leadership of the fraternity had demanded the young Isaac Ekeoba must be initiated into the cult group in fulfillment of the pledges made by his late father when he was elevated to the top echelon of the Ogboni Fraternity.
It was further learnt that Isaac Ekeoba who is a Christian declined to subscribe to any secret oath that would repudiate his faith in Christ.
The leaders of the cult group were said to have made gentle overtures in a bid to convince the young Isaac Ekeoba on the imperative of renouncing his faith and join the Ogboni Fraternity, but the young man completely refused.
He was given a grace period of one year to consider his position or face the consequences of his action.
Our reporter further gathered that on two occasions, some unidentified gunmen invaded the family home, but luckily, Isaac Ekeoba was away from home on each occasion.
Following the persistent threat to his life, Isaac Ekeoba has gone into hiding after he suffered a mysterious attack in his stomach and was admitted in the hospital.
Isaac Ekeoba’s case is compounded as his mother was allegedly used for ritual some years back by his father as a condition for joining the Ogboni Fraternity.
The Ogboni Fraternity is a dreaded cult group with membership in government, police, business circle and the traditional institutions.
The group’s activities often involve human sacrifices and the invoking of magic powers to harm their perceived enemies.
