A young man, Masin Okorie whose sister was declared missing by her family after her sudden disappearance, is reportedly wanted for attempted murder.
The suspect ,who hails from Delta state according to information made available to the Nigerian Observer was declared wanted by the police following investigation into a case between a woman (names withheld) who trafficked the sister of the wanted suspect to Europe.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the woman who resides in Europe decided to use her family and thugs back home to go after the mother of her client in Europe over her refusal to pay up the agreed fee in delivering her to Europe.
The source further said that the sister ,Juliet Okorie who until her sudden disappearance assisted her mother in selling fish in the market as the only means of livelihood for the poor family of Masin Okorie.
It was learned that the human trafficker and her agents in Europe were the reasons the sister could not assist her family by sending money home to her family to improve the standard of living of her family as she was under intense pressure to pay huge sum of money in the region of thousands of Euros/millions of naira in its equivalence for taking her to Europe.
The source further revealed that trouble however started for Masin Okorie and his family when their missing sister who was later discovered was trafficked to Europe could not pay up money owed her madam promptig the agents of the human trafficker in Nigeria to demand their money from her family at home.
The situation however degenerated when on the fateful day of the attack on the family, thugs of the human trafficker came to demand their money from the mother of Masin Okorie when all of a sudden they started beating her up for refusing to comply by paying up.
The attack on the mother of Masin Okorie happened in Useh in Benin city, Edo state.
Sources in the community said that Masin Okorie who was an apprentice at a barber shop was returning home on the fateful day of the attack only to meet the thugs of the woman(human trafficker) beating up his mother.
The situation, according to the sources prompted Masin Okorie who rushed to get a plywood with which he used in violently hitting one of the thugs who instantly slumped unconsciously to the ground.
Reports however emerged in the community that the thugs on different occassion were at the barber shop where the suspect was an apprentice in search of the suspect but could not find him as it was understood that he ran away to avoid being apprehended.
Meanwhile, the police when contacted confirmed the attack and said that the suspect, Masin Okorie who immediately ran away was culpable of attempted murder as the thug(victim) was still unconscious at the time of filing this report.
The police further said that it has taken over the case of human trafficking and attempted murder by the runaway suspect adding that all the suspects in the case would be prosecuted upon the completion of investigation into the case.
