Suspected ritual men have beheaded a commercial motorcyclist, popularly called Okada Rider in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
Our correspondent gathered that the culprits made away with the head of their victim after the gruesome murder in lonely street adjacent to the Ambrose Alli University College of Medicine.
The headless body of the victim was left in the pool of his blood, just as splashes of blood were all over the environment.
A residents in the street, (name withheld) while speaking with SUNDAY OBSERVER said the suspect ritualists boarded the bike, unknown to the cyclist that they were ritualists, and had laid ambush on the street.
According to the resident, they heard a loud shout for help, accompanied with heavy bangs on the gates of houses on the street by the motorcyclists before he was over-powered by the suspect ritual
men.
The source lamented that they woke up to meet the gory sight of the headless body lying in the pool of blood and consequently notified the police who came to evacuate the body.
It was learnt that residents of the street have formed the habit of going indoors early due to persistent robbery on the street, hence the culprits could carry out their gruesome activity even when it was just
few minutes to 8pm when the incident happened.
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Esan West Local Government Division, Mr. A. A. Shaibu confirmed the report and said the matter had been transferred to the command’s headquarters in Benin City, for
further investigation.
It was gathered from police source that some persons, including the younger brother of the decease are currently under investigation. The younger brother is been interrogated for been the last person that
called decease’s cell phone before the murder.
