BENIN CITY – The Proprietor of House of Favour International Church (HOFIC) Christian Academy, Benin City, Rev. Lucky Onaiwu, has charged parents on the need to give qualitative education to their children or wards, for the purposes of development.
In his address during the second graduation/prize giving ceremony of the school, Rev. Onaiwu disclosed that education is a veritable tool to greatness.
Speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, he said that no society progresses without educational input.
Onaiwu, the founder and spiritual father of the church said that his dreams to establish a school in the church was inspired by the educational legacies of the late sage and elderstateman, Chief Obafemi Awolowo who facilitated the rapid developments of the then Western region to greater height.
“It could be attested to the fact that in Nigeria today, the South West produces the highest percentage of educated personalities, who are fast excelling in their respective disciplines,” adding achieved in the other regions, if the necessary atmosphere was created.
He enjoined parents to work assiduously to ensure that their children are educated for the purposes of transformation of their lives, while congratulating the pupils and graduands who distinguished themselves during the academic year.
To enhance effective and efficient educational standard of the school effective April next year he said he had mapped out modalities strategies to sponsor at least two children yearly to the United Kingdom for an excursion so as to boost their academic learning.
He, however, commended the selfless efforts of the management staff of the school and charged them to remain focused and steadfast in discharging their responsibilities in modifying these pupils to be good leaders of tomorrow.
In his remarks, Principal of the School, Mr. Ikechukwu Emmanuel stressed that the graduation ceremony provides a good platform the children to display what they were blessed with.
He, however, thanked the proprietor and the management staff of the school for creating a workable and conducive atmosphere to inculcate learnings in the pupils, while charging parents to live up to their roles for the betterment of the society.
Theme of the graduation ceremony was” insuring effective and pragmatic education.
High point of the ceremony was the presentation of gift items to the 37 pupils who distinguished themselves.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the mother of the Proprietor, Deaconess (Dr) Felicia Onaiwu and Pastor Julius Osaigbaikhoe the Resident Pastor of the Church.
