In his determination to guarantee the safety of motorists and commuters, Akoko-Edo Local Government Council chairman, Hon. Tajudeen Alade Suleman Esq has embarked on an inspection tour to the Auchi-Sasaro-Igarra-Ibillo Federal Government road where palliative work is being done to ensure free vehicular movements within and outside of the area.

The chairman appealed to the Federal Government to ensure that contractors earlier assigned to the construction and repair of the road are made to return to site in order to improve the lives of Akoko-Edo people who depend on the road for commercial activities, adding that the contractors should be made to execute contract agreements made with the government, as the law is against such breach of contract.

The chairman further assured the people of Akoko-Edo that he would do all within his power to ensure that in the next one week, he would meet with appropriate authorities to ensure that the contractors assigned to the road are made to fulfill agreements made in the contract.

Hon. Alade asserted that he was at the failed portions of Sasaro and Ibillo road to ensure that a comprehensive palliative exercise is carried out in order to bring a sense of respite to the people who had had great difficulties in transportation.

He said, “As a responsive government at the grassroots, we cannot pretend not to know what our people are facing every now and then on this road. Their predicament, plight and challenges are becoming a thing of concern to us. As a government, I felt it is incumbent on us to respond to their cry on time ahead of the rainy season.

“I know if nothing is done urgently, this road would become impassable, putting into consideration that you cannot fight insecurity genuinely and holistically if the roads are collapsed because kidnappers and other forms of social vices thrive when the roads are not in good shape.”

Hon. Alade appreciated the state government for providing the necessary platform and support to ensure the development of Akoko-Edo, adding that the rehabilitation exercise would address the valley around the Army check point on the Ibillo road, while embankments would be created to quickly salvage the failed potion.
