BENIN CITY  – The immediate past Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) of Ugbowo Police Division, Mr. Remiguis Ekuwi a Superintendent of Police has been commended by the Ugbowo Chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCEC, for effectively and efficiently policing the area, while his tenure lasted in the division.
The commendations were made yesterday in Benin City, during the send forth ceremony organized in his honour by the PCRC.
In an address by the Chairman of the PCRC, Ugbowo Chapter, on behalf of the members, Alhaji Yusuf Bello described the out gone DPO as dynamic and gentle Police Officer, whose vigour and pragmatic leadership were articulated towards creating a peaceful atmosphere in the locality.
Bello noted that the ex -DPO was able to harness the security potentials of his office to combat crime in and around the  division, especially  in his gallant efforts at curbing cultism in Ugbowo and its environs, including the University of Benin Community.
The PCRC Chair while speaking with the Nigerian Observer further said that Mr. Ekuri used his dispositions as an Officer who rose through the rank to increase the value of Police operational Methodology  and brought rapid developments to the station.
He posited that due to the humble dispositions of the out gone office, especially his liaison Drowses with the PCRC, he (DPO) was able to achieve the progressive feats which precipitated his rapid promotion to as CSP, Bello  urged the outgone DPO to take the same mindset to the New Benin Division, where he had been posted to, being another volatile area so that he could set better record than that of Ugbowo division.
Alhaji Bello, commended the exemplary leadership of the Police Officer, whom he described as role model to other officers in the force, saying that his actions were worthy of emulation.
The PCRC, also welcomed that new DPO, also a Superintend of police yet to be  decorated  Chief Supintendent of Police, Mr. Rufus Oluyomi Odediran, and charged him to use his promotion as CSP to consolidate on the achievement of his predecessor so that he could enjoy a cordial working relationship with the PCRC and the Ugbowo community at large.
In his remarks, the outgone DPO, Mr. Ekuri, thanked members of the PCRC and the entire Ugbowo community for the cooperation and assistance he got during the tenure in the division.
He recounted how the members of PCRC, assisted him in connecting electricity to the station and the regular financial assistance for logistics.
Ekuri stressed that the laudable achievements he recorded as the DPO in Ugbowo would not have been possible but for the immeasurable commitment and support from the PCRC members and Ugbowo community at large.
The new DPO, Ugbowo Division, Mr. Rufus Oluyimi Odediran, thanked the PCRC members for the warmth reception and solicited their support and commitment to enable him succeed in the Herculean task ahead.
Vice chairman of the of the PCRC, and the husband to the Chief Accountant of the Bendel Newspappers Company Limited, Mr. Gabriel Akhanolu described the tenure of the outgone DPO as very successful.
He said that the peaceful co-existence between the police under the ougone DPO, the PCRC and the Ugbowo community could best be described as one family union.
