BENIN CITY-The Edo House of Assembly has passed a vote of confidence on the Speaker, Victor Edoror for purposeful leadership.
The vote followed a motion moved by the chairman house committee on information, Mr Chris Okaeben (APC Oredo West), and seconded by Mr Igbas Ezehi (PDP Esan North East 11)
Okaeben who moved the motion under personal explanation, said the speaker had demonstrated high sense of responsibility and dedication to duty since his emergence as speaker.
He said the motion became necessary following some media reports that the speaker had collected N36 million from local government chairmen on behalf of the house.
He further noted that the cordial working relationship in the house under Edoror was commendable and a model to emulate.
The majority leader, Foly Ogedengbe in his contribution, said the vote was necessary to inspire confidence in the leadership in their commitment to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Victor Edoror thanked his colleagues and reiterated his commitment to continue to unite the house and transform the state.
Also, the House considered a report of the house committee on works on upper Adesuwa road and environs flooding problem.
The chairman of the committee, Mr Festus Edughele (APC Esan North East) said the committee discovered that the problem was as a result of illegal structures erected on water ways.
The committee therefore recommended that all illegal structures be demolished to allow for free flow of water.
