Arsenal are planning a move for Basel defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny in January, according to The Daily Mail.
The Gunners, who are looking to strengthen their midfield following the long-term injuries suffered by Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla, are about to agree a £5 million deal with the Swiss outfit to sign the 23-year-old Egypt international.
The former Al Ahly youngster scooped three consecutive Swiss Super League titles with Basel, whom he joined from Al Mokawloon in January 2013.
Mohamed Elneny should be Arsenal’s only winter reinforcement in their bid to claim their first Premier League crown since 2004.
