BENIN CITY – Against the backdrop of the recent pronouncement of the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, that the gubernatorial aspirants of All Progressives Congress, APC, will emerge through primaries, the former Provost Marshall of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Idada Ikponmwen, Rtd, has hailed the decision.
Gen. Ikponmwen gave the commendation in his office, recently in Benin City, while speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER. He noted that 15 aspirants from the APC are jostling for the exalted seat.
He described Governor Oshiomhole as not only a true democrat, but a transparent leader, whose political inclination had restructure and repositioned the political Landscape of Edo State, since assuming office about seven years ago.
It would be recalled that Governor Oshiomhole on Thursday, while holding a meeting with the APC leaders across the three senatorial districts in the state, maintained that there would be primaries for all the aspirants, but that as the Governor, who had the responsibility to give good governance to the people, had a choice of who will succeed him in order to consolidate on his achievements.
The APC Chieftain, who, also is a renowned Legal Practitioner pointed out that the seven years of the present administration of Governor Oshiomhole in the state was productive in the areas of infrastructural developments which needed to be sustained by all vigour.
He said that Governor Oshiomhole knows who will pilot the affairs of the state to a greater height especially now when the economy of the country is dwindling, noting that a visionary and innovative leader could sustain the tempo of developmental drive in the state.
He advised the good people of the state to carefully choose who will lead them with passion, while urging them to disregard sycophants, who have the intents to plung the state into financial mess.
