UDABA (ETSAKO CENTRAL)- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a fresh setback in Edo State as Etsako Central Local Government chairman of the party, Sheikh Murktari Ilenoba, led over 1,200 people to join the All Progressives Congress in Udaba ward 8 of the Local Government Area.
Sheikh Ilenoba said he took the decision because he has “seen the light” also said: “I was the remaining oxygen of the PDP in Etsako Central, but now that I have left the party, the PDP is dead and gone in this local government.”
Other PDP leaders who joined the APC alongside Sheikh Ilenoba included PF Abebe, Mr. Isaac Iyerimah, Mr Agbata Godsdey, Mrs Alice Okwuofu, Mrs Felicia Eletso Omokhoba, Chief Peter Alumhialo Ozimah, Mrs Margarret Ilageji Ayemoba and Mrs Amina Okolo.
Receiving the decampees on behalf of Governor Adams Oshiomhole, the member representing Etsako Central in Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Lawani Damian assured the new APC members of equal rights in the party.
He said the APC is a party that harps on development and has attracted development to Udaba and Etsako Central.
He told the people that under APC government, the people of Udaba now have light, a modern market, and the Primary and Secondary Schools in the area have been reconstructed and rehabilitated.
Zonal Leaders of APC in the area, Alhaji Waziri Oshioma, Capt Emma Oshiogbehele , Comrade John Akhigbe, the Council Chairman, Hon Charles Eshiesimua were also on hand to receive the new members.
