The joint task force of the Nigerian Police and the Nigerian Army has launched a manhunt for members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) while also declaring them wanted.
It will be recalled that IPOB members on December 3rd, 2015 marched along the Niger bridge to protest the actualization of Biafra .
The protest, however ,was quelled with the use of force by the military and policemen who fired at the protesters.
Confirmed reports indicated that high number of casualties were recorded during the onslaught by the joint task force of the Nigerian police and military on the protesting IPOB members.
Among the casualties were youths ,men and women including the elderly from Uli community in Anambra state.
IPOB members in Uli community in Anambra state were led by one Odulukwie John Chinonso through Onitsha market to the Niger bridge where they encountered stiff resistance from military personnel.
It was reported that among the casualties involved in the onslaught were aged men and women including the mother of Odulukwie John Chinonso who was among the dead victims during the onslaught by both the military personnel and police on the protesters.
According to information made available to the Nigerian Observer ,some members of the proscribed group were arrested and taken away by the military who also launched another fierce attack on members of IPOB at a military barrack in Anambra state a day after the protest .
It was gathered that a high number of casualties were recorded in the separate attack while those arrested by the police are said to be helping the police in providing the identities of other fleeing members.
Confirmed report revealed that at about 9:30pm on December 10,2015 ,the military raided a building in an attempt to arrest the fleeing leader of IPOB Odulukwie John Chinonso who managed to escape by jumping from a storey building in order to avoid being apprehended.
Meanwhile, the police and military personnel in a statement made available to the Nigerian Observer ,said it has launched a manhunt on fleeing members of IPOB in Uli in Anambra state including Agu Uche, Chukwudi Igwe, Larry Ibe , Obiano Ignatius and Uchenna Kingsley and Odulukwie John Chinonso whose whereabouts remain unknown.
