BENIN CITY-The police in Benin have arrested a 53-year-old widower who allegedly forged a notice of approval for registration of a firm in other to obtain the certificate of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

Also, the police have paraded five suspected cultists alleged to have attacked a Pentecostal church during cross-over service on New Year eve at Ebele town in Igueben local government area of Edo State.

The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command DSP Osifo Abiodun stated that the widower Mr Francis Wilson Okoebor was picked at the Corporate Affairs Commission’s office in Benin City, where he tendered the forged document, Tuesday, January 5, 2016.

DSP Osifo noted that he had intended to dubiously register a business with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on behalf of his unsuspecting client.

The suspect, Mr Francis Wilson Okoebor who claimed to be a widower with grown up children said that he is from Ewu town in Esan Central local government area of Edo State.

“I have registered over 40 different companies since over the period of 20 years, they are duly registered.

“I take full responsibility for whatever has happened, I am sorry”. Mr Francis admitted.

Those paraded for allegedly attacking a church, chased the officiating pastor away and as some worshipers were given the beating of their, included Lucky Itawa, 20, and Ayoyo Ehis, 20.

Others were Emma Adudu, 23, Odion Orukpe, 26 and Godday Otoide, 30.

The five suspects denied any involvement in the church attack.

Emma Adudu however alleged that he was passing by the church that fateful night holding a bottle of wine he bought for his father when some members of the church armed with sticks, descended on him.

DSP Osifo stated that the six suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigations.

It will be recalled that trouble reportedly started when a boy alleged to have been holding a bottle of alcohol and a cigarette in his mouth walked majestically into the church during a cross-over service last Thursday.

Efforts by a vigilant usher said to have intercepted the boy and pleading with him to respect the sanctity of the house of God was resisted.

It was further learnt that the boy insisted on smoking inside the church alleging that he and the pastor used to guzzle and booze together.

The boy who was eventually forced out of the church premises allegedly reinforced and stormed the church with his gang members who descended on the worshipers.

Musical instruments belonging to the church were allegedly destroyed during the invasion.
