Benin city – Edo State House of Assembly yesterday approved the sack of both the suspended chairmen of Oredo Local Government Council and Etsako Central Local Government Council, Hon Osaro Obazee and Hon. Emmanuel Momoh respectively just as it reinstated Hon. Victor Enobakhare and Hon. Roland Ibieorutonwen, the chairmen of Egor and Orhionmwon respectively.

The ratification of the sack of the chairmen of Oredo and Etsako Central Local Government councils and the immediate reinstatement of the chairmen of Egor and Orhionmwon councils followed the consideration of the report of the commission of inquiry on the suspension of the four Chairmen on October 6, 2015 on allegations bothering on financial impropriety and abuse of office.

The report of the commission of inquiry at the committee of whole during plenary yesterday indicted Hon. Osaro Obazee and Hon. Emmanuel Mommoh on the grounds of gross financial misconduct, award of contract without due process refusal to pay staff imprest, dictatorial and undemocratic style of leadership.

The report also stated that Hon. Victor Enobakhare and Hon. Roland Ibieorutonmwen were not given fair hearing and as such the allegations against them could not be proven beyond reasonable doubts.

Parliament after the consideration of report unanimously adopted the 4-point recommendations of the commission of inquiry on the suspension of Chairmen on allegations of financial impropriety and abuse of office.
