BENIN CITY: The Edo State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon Joseph Ayegberu Ugheoke yesterday said that all individuals and institutions that encroached on government land would not be spared of the inherent consequences.

He disclosed this when he led officials of the ministry and that of Housing and Urban Development on a demolition exercise at Iyekogba Government acquisition in Benin City.

Commissioner Ugheoke condemned the action of those illegally erecting structures on government land with impunity and advised them to stop forth with, adding that the patience and human face of government should not be seen as weakness by Lands speculators.

The Lands and Surveys Commissioner said that the pulling down of illegal structures on Government Acquisition at Iyekogba would enable Government pave the way for the purpose for which the land was acquired.

He also advised unsuspecting members of the public to be waty of activities of land speculators and stay clear from Government Acquisitions, adding that the State government would not cede its property to any illegal occupiers.
It would be recalled that the State Government had ordered those who encroached on Edo College Land, Benin City to relocate from the property of face demolition.

Commissioner for Lands and Surveys Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke and his Education counterpart, Hon Gideon Obahkhan who led government delegation for the exercise issued the warming, during, an on-the-spot assessment trip to the area to ascertain the extent of encroachment.

The lands and Survey Commissioner decried the rate of incessant encroachment on government lands across the state particularly, schools land and pointed out that the State Government would not allow such criminality to thrive further.

He assured that those found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the relevant laws of the Land.

Commissioner Ugheoke stressed that those who have encroached and those who intends to do so to be forewarned that the State Government would not concede any part of its land any where to criminals in whatever guise.

The Lands and Survey Commissioner therefore directed that those that have erected one form of structure or the other on Edo College Land to immediately come forward to the Ministry of Lands and Surveys, Secretariat building, Sapele Road Benin City with their title document, failure which such structure, according to him would be pulled down at the owners expense.

The Education Commissioner, Hon Gideon Obahkan said, the Ministry has series of reports about the activities of illegal land developers on schools acquisition, but assured that it is not business as usual.

He implored those who want to purchase land to consult the relevant authorities to authenticate the true status of the land before purchase.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Hon. Joseph Ayegbeni Ugheoke has told the people of Ulemo Community in Oredo Local Government Area to refrain from further encroachment on government acquisition in the locality.

Hon. Ugheoke made this known, when he led other top government officials on the spot visit to government acquisition in Ulemo Community.

He explained that the state government is considering its next line of action concerning his observations in the Ulemo Government Acquisitions where he said there were pockets of illegal development.
