BENIN CITY – Members of a Omosomwen family in Aruogba Community,Oredo Local Government Area of Edo
State are in disarray and panic following threat from unknown gunmen few days after their bread winner and head of community,Pa Clifford Omosomwan was brutally killed in his home.
This may not be unconnected with the crisis that have engulfed the community since late 2014,and resurfaced recently in the community
Trouble was said to have started for the family when on March 3,2016,when Pa Omosomwan,who is in his eighties and the head of the community was murdered by unknown gunmen,who attacked his house at night.
The crisis in Aruogba community erupted when a faction of youths with the active support of some elders were indiscriminately selling the community land.The youths formed their own Development Association,as against the authentic Development Association set up by Pa Omosomwan and his council of Elders.
It was gathered that several people who were against this faction have been killed and several houses destroyed. The second in command in the council of elders was also behead for opposing this gang of imposter.
Pa Omosomwan was very vocal and fought these imposters who were illegally selling the community land
After series of unsuccessful attempt to make him come to their side they then resorted to threat, intimidation and blackmail.
The threat took a different dimension, when they killed him and the threat was later extended to other members of the family, including his two sons and his nephew,Ogieva Osagie,who was like a son to him,and Osagie knows the in and out of the community activities. The threat seems unbearable for the Osagie,he relocated to Abuja for safety.The hoodlums burnt down his tailoring shop,when they could not find him.
While at Abuja,it was learnt that Osagie started receiving threatening messages and phone calls that they are coming for him.
He has to flee for his life,when his safety waa no longer guarantee.
